Nucleoeléctrica's President Denies Corruption Allegations, Citing Transparent Operations

The president of Nucleoeléctrica Argentina S.A., Demián Reidel, who came under suspicion for allegedly paying off personal debts of 825 million pesos in just 18 days, has rejected the accusations. He stated that the funds were obtained from 'transparent' operations that are 'included in his sworn statement.' An investigation by the portal El Disenso revealed that the official managed to eliminate liabilities that, until mid-January, had placed him in a situation of 'high insolvency risk' in the financial system. From his social networks, Reidel clarified that in 2018, 'he bought a stake in a real estate development in Argentina with his own funds' and that 'he took bridge financing against the asset to have liquidity.' 'I don't usually comment on my operations, but that's over. I collected and canceled the debt,' he added. To conclude, he emphasized that it was a 'transparent, fully documented' operation carried out 'under signatures certified before a public notary.' The cancellation of these bank obligations with Banco Macro coincides with a period of strong questioning about overpricing in Neuroeléctrica's contracts: under his administration, NA-SA was awarded contracts for a total of approximately 20,417 million pesos. Sources close to the company's operations suggest systematic irregularities in payments, and it is rumored that payments to suppliers are only made 'after an advance commission of 5% of the contract' is paid, a figure that, applied to the total volume of purchases, would reach one billion pesos.
